## Synopsis

Hitoribocchi no Marumaruseikatsu (2019) is a Japanese animated slice of life comedy produced for MBS and based on a manga. Its protagonist Bocchi Hitori, voiced by Chisaki Morishita, is a girl with extreme social anxiety who has had only one friend since elementary school. When her closest friend Nako Sunao, voiced by Minami Tanaka, learns they will be separated after graduation, Bocchi makes a promise to befriend everyone in her class before middle school graduation or the friendship ends. Her plans for winning classmates over, including the shy Aru Honshou, voiced by Akari Kito, and the spirited Rakita Sotoka, voiced by Yuuko Kurose, keep collapsing in awkward and funny ways, whether her legs cramp or she cannot meet anyone's eyes. The series runs for a single twelve-episode season of short episodes, each built around a new small social scheme and its failure. Its tone is gentle, warm, and quietly sincere, with a comedic edge drawn from its protagonist's physical panic. Set in a contemporary Japanese school, it is a story about shyness, persistence, and the small victories of ordinary friendship. Fans of Bocchi the Rock! and Hanasaku Iroha will find similar comfort in its earnest, awkward heart.
