## Synopsis

Briarpatch (2020) is an American limited series created by Andy Greenwald for USA Network. Rosario Dawson plays Allegra 'Pick' Dill, a dogged investigator who returns to her border-town Texas home after her sister is murdered. Dawson's Allegra works the case alongside figures such as A.D. Singe (Edi Gathegi), while Kim Dickens plays Eve Raytek, another character caught in the town's web of loyalties. What begins as a simple search for a killer widens into an all-consuming campaign to expose a hometown where nearly everyone has something to hide. The ten-episode season is built on steady investigative momentum, with each installment peeling back another layer of local deceit, violence, and private betrayal. The story unfolds in a dusty, heat-soaked Texas landscape where cars, guns, and old family debts shape every move. The tone is gritty, tense, and paranoid, with a bleak undercurrent of grief driving Allegra forward. Fans of Ozark, Mare of Easttown, and True Detective will find resonance in its blend of small town dread, morally compromised characters, and a lone investigator refusing to let the truth stay buried.
