## Synopsis

El-Sayad (2014) is an Egyptian crime mystery series created for Egyptian television, following a former member of a security service whose career ends after a debilitating accident. Youssef El Sherif plays Seif Abdelrahman, a man deemed unfit for duty and dismissed, who is pulled back when his former colleagues confront a puzzling case they cannot crack alone. Sanaa Shafea plays Faisal Ghallab, and Mai Selim plays Hala, both part of the investigative circle whose trust and rivalry shape the story. The engine of the series is the tension between a broken body and a sharp mind, as Seif must work through clues from the sidelines while his colleagues test what he can still do. The season is a single self-contained arc of thirty forty-three-minute episodes, unfolding as one continuing investigation rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is tense and brooding, with a steady sense of unease that builds around the mystery while the human relationships carry emotional weight. Set in contemporary Egypt, the story moves through urban Cairo settings and official offices where authority and suspicion collide. Fans of Monk and Bones will find resonance in its wounded-genius detective structure and its methodical crime-solving pleasures, while viewers of Sherlock will appreciate its puzzle-driven suspense.
