## Synopsis

The Adventures of Pinocchio (1972) is an Italian family fantasy miniseries produced for Rai 1 and set in an invented fairy-tale world. Lonely Mastro Geppetto, a poor carpenter with no wife and no children, carves a wooden puppet to keep him company after a trade of wood with his colleague Mastro Cherry. The puppet, Pinocchio, is played by Andrea Balestri, and Nino Manfredi plays Geppetto. Across five episodes of roughly an hour each, the story follows the animated boy as he wanders through a colorful, carnival-flavored landscape, crossing paths with a circus director (Mario Adorf), the mischievous cat and fox (Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia), and the strongman Mangiafoco (Lionel Stander). Each episode is a self-contained adventure stitched together by Pinocchio's restless curiosity and his longing to be a real boy. The tone is whimsical, warm and gently comic, with a sincere moral core and a cozy old-world charm. Fans of the classic Pinocchio tale, family fantasy adaptations and vintage European children's miniseries will find resonance here, in the vein of Heidi and The Neverending Story. It is a short, one-season family watch with a bittersweet, affectionate ending.
