## Synopsis

Wu Assassins (2019) is a American action fantasy series created by John Wirth and Tony Krantz for Netflix. Wannabe chef Kai Jin (Iko Uwais) discovers he is the last of a line of Chosen Ones, and he teams up with homicide detective Christine Gavin (Katheryn Winnick) to unravel an ancient mystery and take down supernatural assassins hidden in the streets of San Francisco. Uncle Six (Byron Mann) and Jenny Wah (Li Jun Li) bring the family and Chinatown community into the story, while Summer Glau appears in a supporting role. The engine of the series is Kai's reluctant education in his own inherited power, pitting him against criminal rivals and mystical enemies in a grounded urban setting. Each episode mixes crime-procedural investigation with bursts of martial arts choreography, giving the show a gritty, kinetic texture. Its single season of ten hour-long episodes was canceled, leaving the mythology open. Fans of The Raid, Into the Badlands and Iron Fist will find resonance in its blend of hand-to-hand action, supernatural stakes and urban grit. The tone is brooding and propulsive, with dark humor and an emphasis on family loyalty and identity.
