## Synopsis

The Fiery Priest (2019-2024) is a South Korean crime comedy drama series created by Park Jae-bum for SBS. Kim Nam-gil plays Kim Hae-Il, a hard-fisted Catholic priest whose sense of justice refuses to accept the hypocrisy around him. He joins forces with a detective and a prosecutor, played by Kim Sung-kyun and Lee Hanee, to investigate the mysterious death of an elderly priest. Their case-driven engine pushes through church offices, police stations, and courtrooms, as the team confronts believers who buy absolution every week while continuing their misdeeds. Each episode mixes brisk action set pieces with sardonic banter and procedural legwork, so the investigation stays tense even when the tone turns playful. The series runs across two seasons and fifty-two episodes, with one continuing storyline that builds from the first case into a broader reckoning with institutional greed. Its tone blends irreverent humor with a sincere critique of religion used as a shield. Fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Father Brown and Signal will find a similar mix of comedic bite, investigative momentum and morally driven heroes in contemporary Korea.
