## Synopsis

Los Espookys (2019-2022) is a Spanish-language American comedy horror series created by Fred Armisen, Ana Fabrega, and Julio Torres for HBO. Its two seasons and twelve half-hour episodes follow a close circle of friends who turn their love of horror into an unusual business, staging frights, monsters, and eerie spectacles for clients who need them. Julio Torres plays Andres, Ana Fabrega plays Tati, and Bernardo Velasco plays Renaldo, with Cassandra Ciangherotti as Ursula, and the group's schemes repeatedly collide with the town's own strange and unsettling customs. Each episode is built around a new commission, a new job that tests the friends' loyalty and ingenuity while the bizarre becomes ordinary. The show is set in a dreamy fictional Latin American country where the supernatural feels like part of daily life, and its tone blends deadpan absurdity, whimsy, and a touch of dread. Its visual world is saturated with theatrical production design and offbeat humor. Fans of What We Do in the Shadows, Documentary Now!, and Wednesday will find kindred spirits in its quirky, self-aware approach to the macabre. The series rewards viewers who enjoy surreal, character-driven comedy with a cult sensibility and a fondness for genre play.
