## Synopsis

Darkness: Those Who Kill (2019-2024) is a Danish crime thriller series created by Ina Bruhn for Viaplay, spanning four seasons of eight episodes each. Investigator Jan Michelsen (Kenneth M. Christensen) and profiler Louise Bergstein (Natalie Madueño) follow a string of linked killings, moving through the thrilling periphery of a murderer's view as they try to connect the victims and close in on the offender. Their work is driven by case files, forensic dead ends and the psychological strain of thinking like a killer, with Peter Vinge (Tobias Santelmann) and Emma Holst (Tessa Hoder) among the other principal figures on the investigation. Each season builds a new hunt of about eight hour-long chapters, giving the show a serialized shape where the investigation carries forward across episodes. The tone is cold, tense and bleak, with a Scandinavian sense of quiet unease and grim Danish locations. Fans of nordic noir such as The Killing and The Bridge, and viewers drawn to serial killer psychology in the vein of Hannibal, will find resonance here.
