## Synopsis

Love and Fortune (2018) is a Japanese romance drama series broadcast on TV Tokyo, a single-season run of twelve 24-minute episodes adapted from a manga. Eri Tokunaga plays Wako Taira, a 31-year-old part-time cinema worker who has lived with her boyfriend Fu-kun for three years and never seriously considered leaving him. Her quiet routine collapses when she meets high school student Yumeaki Iko, and she finds herself unable to resist him. The engine of the series is the affair itself: the pull of sudden infatuation, the guilt and secrecy it demands, and the pressure of a settled life that no longer fits. Each episode turns on stolen moments, awkward encounters and the growing cost of lies told to people who trust her. Supporting characters, including Enon Kawatani as Okihara Kagemitsu and Kitaro as Keisuke Naruse, widen the circle of people whose lives are touched by the choices she makes. The tone is intimate and melancholic, with a glossy urban texture and a current of longing that keeps the romance feeling dangerous. Fans of Mother and Last Cinderella will find resonance in its adult romantic entanglements and emotional complications.
