## Synopsis

Warrior Nun (2020-2022) is a Canadian supernatural action fantasy series created by Simon Barry for Netflix. Orphaned teen Ava (Alba Baptista) wakes in a morgue with newfound powers and is named the chosen Halo-Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns. Her journey pits her against hellish forces while she navigates a hidden church order led by Mother Superion (Sylvia De Fanti) and Sister Beatrice (Kristina Tonteri-Young). Shotgun Mary (Toya Turner) provides blunt, fierce companionship, and Thekla Reuten's Jillian Salvius adds a shadowy institutional threat. The engine of the series is Ava's struggle to understand a destiny she never asked for, with each episode built around a fresh demonic threat, sword and gunfights, and the tension between faith and survival. Across two seasons the story stays serialized, with mythology deepening and the stakes escalating. The tone is irreverent and kinetic, mixing brash action with devout, gothic church imagery. Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural will find resonance in its blend of supernatural battles and a reluctant chosen heroine. The series was canceled, leaving its story unfinished.
