## Synopsis

My Husband Won't Fit (2019) is a Japanese drama miniseries created for Netflix and FOD, adapted from a manga. Across ten episodes of roughly thirty-five minutes each, the story follows Kumiko Watanabe (Natsumi Ishibashi) and Kenichi Watanabe (Aoi Nakamura), who meet in college and build a warm, seemingly happy marriage. Their engine is the attempt to hold a relationship together when an unusual physical problem in the bedroom begins to erode trust, communication and their sense of self. Rather than a single case or twist, each episode unfolds the couple's private struggles with patience, embarrassment and loneliness, widening outward to friends and family who offer advice, judgment and quiet comparison. The series is a single continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format, moving through the marriage in a measured way. Its tone is intimate and frank, with moments of awkward humor and aching sincerity, and its atmosphere is domestic and restrained, shaped by everyday Japanese social reticence. Fans of Scenes from a Marriage, Normal People and Modern Love Tokyo will find resonance in its unflinching look at intimacy, loyalty and the difficulty of speaking honestly within a long partnership.
