## Synopsis

Magical Sempai (2019) is a Japanese slice of life comedy anime produced for TOKYO MX and adapted from a manga. Its single season of twelve short episodes, each about fifteen minutes long, follows a reluctant first-year student who is pushed into joining a school club and discovers an upperclassman, Tejina-senpai, practicing magic tricks alone in her clubroom. The engine of the show is simple and repeatable: Tejina-senpai has crippling stage fright, so the moment she finally has an audience her attempts at illusion fall apart into awkward, escalating gags. Voiced by Kaede Hondo as the senpai and Aoi Ichikawa as her assistant, with Rie Takahashi, Daisuke Namikawa, Himika Akaneya and Eri Kitamura in supporting roles, the cast keeps the tone gentle and deadpan. Each episode is a small, low-stakes sketch built around the club's quiet routines, the mild embarrassment of performing, and the fragile friendships forming in an empty room after class. The atmosphere is cozy and wistful rather than frantic, with brief comic beats that reward patience. Fans of the club-based day-to-day humor of Non Non Biyori and the awkward comedy of Lucky Star will find a similar sweet, undemanding warmth here.
