## Synopsis

Virgin River (2019-present) is an American streaming drama series created by Sue Tenney for Netflix. Based on a novel series, it follows recently divorced big-city nurse Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), who relocates to the remote redwood forests of northern California after answering an ad for a midwife. Her steady pull toward Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), a rugged local with a complicated past, drives the romance at the heart of the show, while the town's community of friends and neighbors, including bar owner Preacher Middleton (Colin Lawrence) and Doc Mullins (Tim Matheson), supplies the everyday stakes. Each episode is built from small domestic crises, medical emergencies in a rural clinic, budding friendships, and the quiet work of rebuilding a life far from the city. Shot amid towering pines and mountain light, the series carries a gentle, wistful, comforting tone that rewards slow viewing. Its pace is measured, its drama restrained, and its warmth considerable. Fans of Hart of Dixie, Heartland and When Calls the Heart will find the same blend of small town community and romantic longing here.
