## Synopsis

The Julekalender (1991) is a Danish christmas calendar musical comedy series created by Viggo Sommer, Uffe Rørbæk Madsen and Carsten Knudsen for TV 2. Written and performed almost entirely by the comedy musicians of De Nattergale, the series unfolds as twenty-four short episodes of roughly ten minutes each, broadcast one per day during the Christmas season. Viggo Sommer plays Oluf Sand and Fritz, Carsten Knudsen plays Gertrud Sand and Günter, and Uffe Rørbæk Madsen plays Benny Jensen and Hansi, with Poul Bundgaard as Gammel Nok and Bent Mejding as the narrator. The engine is pure playful absurdity: each small installment builds toward the holiday with sketches, songs and escalating nonsense. The tone is cheerful, silly and warm, with a festive family atmosphere. Its one-season run is a complete, self-contained calendar. Fans of Monty Python's Flying Circus and The Kenny Everett Video Show will find resonance in its sketch wit and musical playfulness.
