## Synopsis

Nine Perfect Strangers (2021-present) is an American streaming drama series created by David E. Kelley and John-Henry Butterworth for Hulu, adapted from a novel. Nicole Kidman plays Masha Dmitrichenko, the enigmatic director of a boutique health-and-wellness resort, who oversees a ten-day retreat for nine stressed city dwellers hoping to reset their lives. Melissa McCarthy plays Frances, a recently divorced writer, while Michael Shannon, Christine Baranski, Luke Evans and Asher Keddie play fellow guests whose private wounds surface as the program grows more intense. The engine of the series is the gap between the promised healing and what the regimen actually does to these guests, with each episode built around a session of group confrontation, scheduled treatments and simmering rivalries among strangers who slowly reveal themselves. Its structure is a continuing story across two seasons, told with a steady accumulation of tension rather than a case of the week. Set in a sun-bleached, isolated retreat, the show carries a glossy, unsettling atmosphere, blending wry humor with a creeping sense of dread. Its tones of paranoia, intimacy and cathartic unease will appeal to viewers who enjoy psychological ensemble dramas. Fans of The White Lotus, Big Little Lies and Midsommar will find resonance in its satirical take on wellness culture and its portrait of people unraveling under pressure.
