## Synopsis

Batwoman (2019-2022) is an American superhero series created by Caroline Dries for The CW and set within the Arrowverse, adapted from the DC Comics character. Kate Kane, played by Ruby Rose in the first season and later by Javicia Leslie, is a highly trained street fighter who soars onto the streets of a failing Gotham to confront a criminal resurgence. Her journey is built around her reluctance to accept the symbolic mantle of a city-wide savior while she confronts her own inner demons. Ruby Rose and Javicia Leslie anchor the show alongside Rachel Skarsten as Alice and Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane, with the Kane family history woven through the central story. The series runs three seasons and 51 episodes, and it was canceled before its arc could fully close. Each season is a serialized run of action set pieces, street-level crime battles, and family conflict rather than standalone cases. Its tone is earnest and action driven, with a strong emphasis on social justice and queer identity at the heart of the heroine's story. Fans of Arrow, Supergirl and Gotham will find a familiar shared universe and vigilante atmosphere here, though the show's reception was divided and its momentum faltered in later seasons.
