## Synopsis

The Chef Show (2019-2020) is an American food documentary series produced for Netflix, following filmmaker Jon Favreau and Los Angeles chef Roy Choi as they cook, eat and talk their way through the food world. The two hosts are the engine of every episode: Favreau, a food enthusiast without formal training, learns from Choi, a chef whose career includes street food and restaurant kitchens, while the pair invite accomplished chefs and celebrity friends into the kitchen. Guests include Gwyneth Paltrow, Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland, with Marvel producers Kevin Feige and the Russo brothers appearing in one episode. Across two seasons and twenty-five half-hour episodes, the format stays loose and conversational, a case of cooking, eating and tasting rather than a competition. Episodes move between restaurant kitchens, markets and home cooking, with the hosts digging into technique and the stories behind dishes. The tone is warm, jokey and unhurried, with an emphasis on camaraderie and appetite. Fans of Chef's Table, Ugly Delicious and Somebody Feed Phil will find a similar pleasure in food told through personality and conversation.
