## Synopsis

Mixed-ish is a US family comedy series created by Peter Saji, Kenya Barris and Tracee Ellis Ross for ABC. Tracee Ellis Ross and Arica Himmel share the role of Bow Johnson, the mother at the heart of a household where Tika Sumpter plays Alicia Johnson and Mark-Paul Gosselaar plays Paul Johnson. Told in retrospect as the grown daughter Rainbow recounts her childhood, the series follows a mixed-race family in a 1980s American suburb as they weigh whether to assimilate into mainstream life or hold on to their own identity. Each episode is built from everyday domestic friction, the small negotiations over school, neighbors, music, and home life that turn into larger questions about belonging. The tone is warm and wry, with nostalgic period detail and affectionate humor balancing sharper observations about race and class. Its two seasons form a single sitcom run, and the series was canceled before its story was finished. Fans of Black-ish, The Wonder Years and Everybody Hates Chris will find resonance in its blend of family comedy, coming of age memory and cultural commentary.
