## Synopsis

Family Business (2019-2021) is a French comedy series created by Igor Gotesman for Netflix. Jonathan Cohen plays Joseph Hazan, a down-on-his-luck entrepreneur whose family butcher shop is struggling, and Gérard Darmon plays his father Gérard Hazan, a veteran of the family trade. Liliane Rovère, Julia Piaton and Louise Coldefy round out the household, with Lina El Arabi and Ali Marhyar as the Benkikir neighbours. When France prepares to legalize pot, the Hazans scramble to convert their butcher shop into a marijuana cafe, and each episode is built from the schemes, deals and bickering that follow. The engine is simple: a broke family must find money and legitimacy before the law changes, and every plan collides with relatives, rivals and bureaucracy. Across three seasons of eighteen short episodes, the show plays as a continuing story with brisk, warm, irreverent comedy. Its tone is cheeky and affectionate rather than cynical, with a bright Paris backdrop and a lovable, squabbling ensemble. Fans of Weeds and other cannabis-themed family comedies will find resonance here.
