## Synopsis

30 Coins (30 monedas) is a Spanish supernatural horror drama that aired on HBO España and HBO Max from 2020 to 2023, across two seasons and sixteen episodes. Eduard Fernández plays Padre Vergara, an exorcist, former boxer and ex-convict who has retreated to a remote Spanish village hoping to be lost and forgotten. His past keeps catching up with him as the supernatural pursues him into the community, and he is joined by Megan Montaner as Elena, Miguel Ángel Silvestre as Paco, and Macarena Gómez as Merche. Pepón Nieto plays Sargento Lagunas, and Manolo Solo plays Cardenal Petruccelli, adding ecclesiastical pressure from above. Each season is built around a dark, escalating supernatural case that presses on the priest's guilt and faith, with grim rural landscapes, unsettling imagery and a steady drumbeat of dread. The tone is brooding, violent and morally uneasy, closer to a Catholic horror thriller than a conventional procedural. Fans of The Exorcist, Hierro and Sacramento will find resonance in its blend of religious dread, rural isolation and a flawed protagonist fighting his own nature.
