## Synopsis

The Elephant Princess (2008-2011) is an Australian family fantasy series created by Jonathan M. Shiff, produced with ZDF. Alex Wilson (Emily Robins) is an ordinary sixteen-year-old in suburban Melbourne until the exotic visitor Kuru (Sebastian Gregory) appears in her backyard with a magical elephant named Anala and informs her she is heir to the throne of the magical kingdom of Manjipoor. Her engine is a reluctant struggle: she must master her newly awakened magic and hold onto her royal inheritance against her devious cousin Vashan, all while keeping one foot in her everyday school and family life. Each episode mixes lighthearted mishaps with rising stakes as she shuttles between two worlds. The show runs for two seasons and fifty-two episodes in total, a light serialized fantasy whose arc is carried by its ongoing royal conflict rather than standalone cases. Its tone is cheerful, earnest and gently whimsical, with a coming-of-age heart about balancing duty and ordinary life. Set in contemporary Melbourne and an invented magical realm, it carries the warmth of classic children's fantasy. Viewers who enjoyed H2O: Just Add Water and Sabrina the Teenage Witch will find a similar pull of secret powers slipping into domestic life.
