## Synopsis

Killer Ratings (2019) is a Brazilian true crime miniseries created by Eamonn Matthews and Dinah Lord for Netflix. Its central figure is Wallace Souza, a television personality and politician who appears as himself, and whose on-camera crusade against violence in Manaus is cast into doubt when he faces accusations of masterminding the very crimes he reported on and rallied against. Across seven episodes of roughly fifty minutes each, the docuseries builds its case through interviews, archival broadcast footage and the testimony of those who surrounded him, following the slow collision between a sensational newsroom persona and the evidence beneath it. Tension rises from each new revelation about whether the public face of outrage was hiding a darker hand. The tone is sober, unsettling and morally charged, with a steady undercurrent of distrust toward celebrity power and the local media machine. Fans of Making a Murderer, The Jinx and Tiger King will find resonance in its blend of real-world criminal inquiry, charismatic subject and questions about who gets to control the story.
