## Synopsis

Pornographer (2018) is a Japanese miniseries adaptation of Maki Marukido's manga, created by Maki Marukido and broadcast on Fuji TV. Across six short episodes of roughly twenty-five minutes each, the story follows Haruhiko Kuzumi (Kenta Izuka), a broke university student whose bicycle accident injures the novelist Rio Kijima (Terunosuke Takezai). Unable to pay what he owes, Haruhiko becomes Kijima's live-in scribe and is gradually pulled into a seductive, emotionally tangled world of writing, desire, and control. Supporting characters include Shirō Kido (Munehiro Yoshida), Yokota Yusuke (Yusuke Ueda), and Sudo Takeshi (Yuya Tominaga), whose relationships with the two men add jealousy and friction to the core dynamic. The engine is simple: a young man trying to clear a debt while learning how far he is willing to bend for a man who sees him as material. Each episode lingers on ordinary university days, late nights, and quiet rooms filled with cigarette smoke. The tone is sultry, intimate, and psychological, with a slow burn that favors suggestion over spectacle. Fans of Bara no Tsumi and the adult romance of Tokyo Love Story will find resonance here.
