## Synopsis

Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 (2020-2022) is a Japanese seinen anime science fiction crime series created by Shirow Masamune and produced by Production I.G for Netflix. Cybernetic mercenary Motoko Kusanagi (voiced by Atsuko Tanaka) returns to the counterterrorist unit Section 9, where she works alongside her partner Batou (Akio Otsuka) and the cautious Togusa (Koichi Yamadera). Their investigations follow a dangerous new threat, the posthumans, through a near-future city where bodies and minds can be swapped for machine parts and corporate power shapes every case. Each season is a two-part arc of intercut investigations, digital surveillance, and tense firefights built around the team's tactical coordination. The series spans twenty-four episodes across two seasons and is a continuing story rather than a standalone case-of-the-week format. Its tone is cool, cerebral, and moody, with a neon-tinged palette and a philosophical undercurrent about what it means to be human. Fans of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Altered Carbon, and Blade Runner 2049 will find resonance in its cyberpunk atmosphere and layered mystery.
