## Synopsis

Scream Queens (2008-2010) is an American reality competition series created for VH1, produced by Joke Productions and Lionsgate Television. Across two seasons and sixteen hour-long episodes, a rotating group of unknown actresses audition and compete for a role in the Saw horror franchise, with the winner of each season earning a part in a Saw film. Hosts Shawnee Smith and Jaime King guide the contestants through each round, while judges James Gunn and Tim Sullivan weigh their performances and decide who advances. Former Saw actress Shawnee Smith anchors the proceedings alongside King, giving the format a direct link to the franchise the hopefuls want to join. Each episode is built from auditions, challenges and eliminations that push the women to prove they can handle genre material and the pressure of a cutthroat casting process. The tone is brisk and playful, with a campy affection for slasher cinema and a behind-the-scenes look at how horror careers are launched. Fans of Project Runway, Top Chef and America's Next Top Model will find the same elimination-driven suspense and judge-led critique here, filtered through the world of low-budget gore and scream queens.
