## Synopsis

Gösta (2019) is a Swedish comedy drama miniseries created by Lukas Moodysson and broadcast on HBO Nordic. Vilhelm Blomgren plays Gösta, a 28-year-old child psychologist who takes his first job in a small rural town and wants nothing more than to be the kindest person he knows, helping every patient, colleague and neighbor who crosses his path. The engine of the series is his sincere determination colliding with the messy realities of other people's lives, so each of its twelve half-hour episodes follows his well-intended efforts, sometimes rewarded and sometimes backfiring in awkward ways. Supporting characters include Mattias Silvell as Pappa, Amy Deasismont as Melissa, Clara Christiansson Drake as Saga and Elisabet Carlsson as Lotta, who together populate the town and its everyday frictions. Presented as a single season of twelve episodes, the show moves at a measured pace and is built on character rather than plot machinery. Its tone blends gentle, awkward humor with a wistful, sincere warmth and occasional melancholy, and it invites comparison with character comedies such as Northern Exposure and Parks and Recreation, along with the quieter Scandinavian dramedy tradition. Viewers who enjoy earnest protagonists and small community comedy will find much to savor in its humane, observant portrait of kindness under pressure.
