## Synopsis

Be Melodramatic (2019) is a South Korean JTBC k-drama created by Lee Byeong-heon, a 16-episode single-season series that follows three thirty-something friends navigating Korea's competitive entertainment scene. Im Jin-ju (Chun Woo-hee) and Lee Eun-jeong (Jeon Yeo-bin) anchor the friendship at the heart of the show, while Hwang Han-ju (Han Ji-eun) and Son Beom-su (Ahn Jae-hong) round out a circle of ambitious peers. Each episode is built around the small professional setbacks and romantic entanglements that come with chasing creative careers in Seoul, from auditions and office politics to the unpredictable pull of love. The engine of the series is the characters' determination to make their dreams work while keeping their relationships intact, and the storytelling leans into heightened emotion without losing its sense of humor. The tone is warm, breezy and sincerely romantic, with a self aware streak that treats melodrama as a way of life. Viewers who enjoy Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Crash Landing on You and Itaewon Class will find similar resonance in its mix of romance, friendship and aspiration. Its strength is in the small, lived-in moments between friends, which give the central love stories their weight.
