## Synopsis

The Sandman (2022-2025) is a American dark fantasy series created by Allan Heinberg, David S. Goyer, and Neil Gaiman for Netflix. Tom Sturridge plays Morpheus, the King of Dreams, who after years of imprisonment travels across the waking world and stranger realms to recover what was taken from him and restore his power. Around him orbit Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, a keeper of his realm, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, and Patton Oswalt voicing Matthew the Raven, his loyal companion. Each stretch of the story is built from strange encounters, mythic bargains, and ancient grudges, unfolding across two seasons as one continuing arc rather than standalone episodes. The mood is gothic, melancholic, and eerie, balancing lush imaginative visuals with moments of dark humor and raw violence. Based on the DC comic graphic novel series by Neil Gaiman, it draws comparisons to American Gods and Preacher for fans of mythic fantasy with a mature edge. Its atmosphere rewards patient viewers who enjoy slow-building lore, weary immortal characters, and imagery that feels like a half-remembered nightmare.
