## Synopsis

Extracurricular (2020) is a South Korean crime drama series created by Gin Han-sai and Kim Jin-min for Netflix. Gifted high school student Oh Ji-soo, played by Kim Dong-hee, turns to a hidden world of serious crime because he needs money to pay for college and see past a dead-end life. Park Ju-hyun, Jung Da-bin and Nam Yoon-su play classmates whose friendships and rivalries pull him deeper into the underground operation. Each episode layers secret dealings onto the pressure of school life, where bullying and cliques raise the stakes as quickly as the money does. The series is a single ten-episode season of roughly fifty-five minutes per episode, told as one continuing story rather than isolated cases. Its tone is tense and bleak, with an undercurrent of adolescent desperation and moral compromise running through every choice. Set in present-day South Korea, it examines how a rigid education system and class anxiety push young people toward dangerous shortcuts. Fans of Euphoria, Squid Game and Kingdom will find resonance in its portrait of teenagers forced into adult criminal territory.
