## Synopsis

Peep Show (2003-2015) is a British Channel 4 sitcom created by Sam Bain, Andrew O'Connor and Jesse Armstrong. Across nine seasons of short six-episode runs, it follows two dysfunctional London flatmates, the anxious, rule-bound Mark Corrigan (David Mitchell) and the impulsive, self-deluding Jeremy Usborne (Robert Webb). Their engine is simple and relentless: each wants a better life, whether a career, a romance or a respectable reputation, and each keeps sabotaging it with bad decisions. The show's signature device is subjective interior monologue, with both men's private thoughts, dark, stupid or embarrassing, playing over their faces while they say something quite different aloud. Episodes are built around humiliating social set pieces in pubs, offices and flats, and the cast widens with Super Hans, Sophie Chapman (Olivia Colman) and Big Suze. Its tone is deadpan, bleakly funny and affectionate, with a codependent male friendship at its heart. Fans of The Inbetweeners, The Office and Fleabag will find resonance in its cringe comedy and awkward British sensibility.
