## Synopsis

Unbelievable (2019) is a US Netflix limited series created by Susannah Grant, a true crime miniseries adapted from a real investigative report. Kaitlyn Dever plays Marie Adler, a young woman who is accused of lying about being raped and is disbelieved by the police who should protect her. Toni Collette plays Detective Grace Rasmussen and Merritt Wever plays Detective Karen Duvall, two female investigators who work across Colorado jurisdictions to connect a spate of eerily similar attacks. Across eight episodes of roughly forty-six minutes each, the engine of the series is patient, methodical legwork: case files, interviews, cross-referenced reports and the slow accumulation of evidence that a single pattern exists. The story alternates between Marie's struggle to be believed and the detectives' painstaking pursuit of the offender, building a tense but grounded atmosphere rather than spectacle. Its tone is sober, empathetic and quietly furious, with a focus on institutional skepticism toward victims. Set in 2010s Colorado, it is a restrained, realistic procedural. Fans of Mindhunter, The Killing and Mare of Easttown will find resonance in its investigative patience and character-driven grief.
