## Synopsis

Lambs of God (2019) is an Australian gothic drama miniseries created for FOX Showcase, a four-episode limited series. Set in an isolated convent by the coast, it follows three nuns from different generations, Sister Iphigenia (Essie Davis), Sister Carla (Jessica Barden) and Sister Margarita (Ann Dowd), whose cloistered routines are disrupted when an unwelcome visitor arrives and begins to unsettle their quiet world. Sam Reid plays Ignatius, a figure whose presence adds to the community's growing tensions. The engine of the story is the slow pressure of an outsider entering a closed religious community, with each episode tightening the bonds and fault lines between the women and the institution that governs them. Its look is austere and atmospheric, with long stretches of wind, stone and sea that heighten the sense of isolation. Tone is brooding, unsettling and melancholic, carrying the weight of faith, obedience and buried secrets. Fans of The Village, The Handmaid's Tale and The Alienist will find resonance in its gothic mood and its patient, character-driven dread across a single short season.
