## Synopsis

Ascendance of a Bookworm (2019-present) is a Japanese animated isekai series produced by Ajiado and WIT STUDIO and broadcast across a wide network of Japanese television stations. Based on a light novel, it follows Urano, a bookish Tokyo apprentice librarian who dies in an earthquake and wakes in the body of Myne, a sickly young girl in a medieval world where books belong only to the elite. Voiced by Yuka Iguchi as Myne, the protagonist is supported by a circle of principal characters including Mutsumi Tamura as Lutz, Takehito Koyasu as Benno, and Megumi Nakajima as Tuuli. Her engine is simple and stubborn: she wants books to reach ordinary people, and every obstacle becomes a practical problem to solve, from paper-making and printing to building libraries while her fragile health and limited time press on her. The series runs across two seasons and sixty episodes, unfolding as one continuing story in a gentle slice of life rhythm. Its setting is an invented pre-modern world with guilds, merchants, and rigid social classes, rendered with a warm, cozy, hopeful tone and a steady current of wit. Fans of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and Spice and Wolf will find resonance in its reincarnation premise, craft-driven optimism, and comforting medieval atmosphere.
