## Synopsis

Pluto (2023) is a Japanese animated science fiction mystery miniseries produced for Netflix, adapted in spirit from the seinen manga tradition. Across eight hour-long episodes, Inspector Gesicht (voiced by Shinshu Fuji), a robot detective, investigates the murders of the world's seven most advanced robots and their human allies. Tenma (voiced by Eizo Tsuda), Helena (voiced by Romi Park) and Ocanomizu (voiced by Toshio Furukawa) move through the investigation alongside him. The engine is a patient hunt: each new killing narrows the field while the inspector realizes he is also in danger. Set in a futuristic world where artificial intelligence and mecha bodies are commonplace, the series unfolds through procedural clues, uneasy alliances and unsettling questions about machine memory and identity. Its tone is grave and atmospheric, with melancholic moods and a brooding, philosophical edge. Fans of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Astro Boy and Blade Runner 2049 will find resonance in its blend of android noir and ethical investigation, making it a thoughtful pick for viewers who enjoy science fiction with a crime-solving core and a serious, adult register.
