## Synopsis

Savages (Les Sauvages, 2019) is a French national-television political drama miniseries created by Rebecca Zlotowski and Sabri Louatah for Canal+. Roschdy Zem plays Idder Chaouch, an Arab candidate poised for a historic presidential victory in France, whose ambitions are threatened by a storm of religious suspicion, cultural prejudice and tangled family loyalties. Supporting roles go to Marina Foïs as Marion, Amira Casar as Daria, and Lyna Khoudri as Louna, each pulling the campaign in a different direction. Across six hour-long episodes, the engine of the story is the candidate's attempt to hold his coalition together while far-right forces and hostile factions circle, with every rally, backroom meeting and family confrontation raising the stakes. The atmosphere is tense and charged, with a contemporary French political setting that feels immediate and raw. Its emotional register is anxious and morally complicated, sitting in the vein of House of Cards and Baron Noir for viewers drawn to power struggles, while its focus on identity under political siege gives it a sharper, more personal edge. Fans of Borgen will also find its grounded, character-driven approach familiar. The series is a single, self-contained limited run told in six episodes.
