## What critics say

Critics and audiences praise Heels for its wrestling-world family drama, sibling rivalry, and lead performances, while its strongest appeal is the intimate story of two brothers fighting over their father's legacy.

## Synopsis

Heels is a sports drama set in the independent wrestling world of Georgia, following two feuding brothers who inherit their late father's struggling promotion. Jack and Ace Spade are both devoted to the family business, yet they can't agree on who should control it or what their father would have wanted. Their bitter rivalry plays out in the ring, where they are scripted as the good guy and the heel, and those roles keep bleeding into their personal lives. Alongside them, their sister and a determined outsider tangled in the promotion's future push the story through backstage booking meetings, cramped locker rooms, and the financial pressure of a local show trying to survive. The tone is gritty and bruising but often darkly funny, with a working-class southern texture and a heavy sense of obligation to family and place. Scenes of pageantry are balanced against quieter moments of grief and regret, so the drama feels intimate even when the spectacle is loud. Across its serialized run the series deepens its exploration of inheritance, loyalty, and the cost of staying close to people who keep hurting you. Viewers who enjoy GLOW, Ozark, or Bloodline will find a similar blend of sports spectacle and family power struggle.
