## Synopsis

Twice Upon a Time (2019) is a French miniseries created by Nathalie Leuthreau and Guillaume Nicloux for ARTE and Netflix. Months after a crushing breakup, Vincent Dauda (Gaspard Ulliel) receives a mysterious package that opens a portal to the past, offering him a chance to win back his ex. Freya Mavor plays Louise Arron, the woman at the center of his longing, and Richard Dillane and Éva Ionesco appear as members of her family whose lives shape the choices he faces. Across four hour-long episodes the engine is simple and emotionally sharp: a wounded man keeps returning to a moment he cannot let go, and every attempt to repair the past exposes what the relationship was built on. The story unfolds as one continuing arc rather than a case-of-the-week format, and its adult romantic drama is tinged with adultery and regret. Set in the contemporary French milieu of its broadcast, the series is contemplative and wistful, with a melancholic undertow that gives the time travel more feeling than spectacle. Fans of Dark, Outlander and Russian Doll will find resonance in its blend of speculative mechanics and intimate heartbreak, though it stays focused on one man's private grief rather than sweeping adventure.
