## Synopsis

Being Erica (2009-2011) is a Canadian science fiction dramedy created by Jana Sinyor for CBC Television. Erica Strange (Erin Karpluk) is a young woman weighed down by a long list of personal regrets, and when she shares it with her therapist Dr. Tom Wexler (Michael Riley), he begins an unusual course of treatment: she is transported back in time and allowed to make different decisions at pivotal moments of her life, drawing on what she knows about the present. Each episode is built around one revisited choice and its ripple effects across her family, friendships and romantic life, with her friend Judith Winter (Vinessa Antoine) and her relationships with Julianne Giacomelli (Reagan Pasternak) and Brent Kennedy (Morgan Kelly) providing grounding around her. The series runs four seasons and forty-nine episodes, with a tone that is wry, warm and introspective rather than heavy. Fans of Quantum Leap, Sliding Doors and Schitt's Creek will find resonance in its mix of gentle humor, personal reflection and contemporary Canadian characters.
