## Synopsis

Oresuki (2019) is a Japanese animated romantic comedy series adapted from a light novel and produced by CONNECT and BARNUM STUDIO for Gunma TV and TOKYO MX. Kisaragi Amatsuyu (voiced by Daiki Yamashita) expects two confessions from the cool upperclassman Cosmos (Sachika Misawa) and his childhood friend Himawari (Haruka Shiraishi), but both reveal they like his friend instead. Stuck in a lonely romantic muddle, he is then tormented by Pansy (Haruka Tomatsu), a gloomy, braided, bespectacled classmate who mocks his troubles with a sharp tongue. The engine of the twelve-episode run is a steady stream of awkward meetings, jealous rivalries and school-life misunderstandings, each episode built around a new romantic misstep. Set in a contemporary Japanese high school, it is a single continuing story with a light, breezy and sometimes cringe-inflected register. Its bright comedy and sincere romantic tension will appeal to fans of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, Toradora! and My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected, who enjoy romcoms where affection is tangled up with pride and misreading.
