## Synopsis

The Movies That Made Us (2019-2021) is a American documentary series created by Brian Volk-Weiss for Netflix. Each episode revisits a beloved blockbuster of the 1980s through interviews with the people who made it, including director Chris Columbus, actor Daniel Stern, actor Joe Pesci, and writer-producer John Hughes, whose archive footage appears alongside them. Narration by Danny Wallace and Donald Ian Black guides viewers through the stories behind the cameras, from casting choices to the on-set accidents and happy accidents that shaped the final films. The series runs three seasons across fourteen episodes of roughly forty-seven minutes each, and it works as a self-contained, case-of-the-week style retrospective rather than a continuing narrative. Its tone is warm and affectionate, pairing sincere admiration for the craft with a playful nostalgia for the era of popular cinema. Fans of Scream Iconic and Filmmaker's Cut will find the same appeal in the look back at how memorable movies came together. The result is a fond, communal tour of cinema history for anyone who grew up with these films.
