## Synopsis

Uzumaki (2024) is a four-episode Adult Swim miniseries, a black-and-white anime adaptation of Junji Ito's horror manga with a seinen horror sensibility. Kirie Goshima (voiced by Uki Satake) tries to escape her hometown of Kurouzu-cho, a small town where residents grow fixated on spirals under an unexplained curse. Shuichi Saito (voiced by Shin-ichiro Miki) is one of the townspeople drawn into the spreading obsession as the pattern takes hold of ordinary life. The engine of the series is simple and relentless: Kirie wants out, and every route out bends back toward the spiral. Each episode builds creeping dread through warped bodies, unsettling rituals, and hypnotic imagery rendered in stark monochrome. Fans of Higurashi: When They Cry, Twin Peaks and The Ring will find resonance in its eerie small-town unease and slow-building supernatural horror. The tone is brooding, claustrophobic and deeply disturbing, a short, tightly built descent for horror devotees who want dread that lingers well after the credits roll.
