## Synopsis

My Country: The New Age (2019) is a South Korean historical drama series created by Chae Seung-dae for JTBC, produced with Celltrion Entertainment and JTBC Studios. Across a single sixteen-episode season of roughly seventy minutes each, the story follows two former friends whose loyalty fractures as they face off over a woman and the future shape of the nation. Seo Hwi (Yang Se-jong) and Nam Seon-ho (Woo Do-hwan) anchor the rivalry, with Han Hee-jae (Kim Seol-hyun) at its emotional center, while Yi Bang-won (Jang Hyuk) and Yi Seong-gye (Kim Yeong-cheol) embody the ambitions that reshape the court. Set during the turbulent collapse of Goryeo and the founding of Joseon, the series is built from political maneuvering, shifting alliances, swordplay and conspiratorial palace scenes. Its tone blends bromantic affection with dynastic intrigue, romance and melancholy, sustained by a sense of a world breaking apart. Fans of Six Flying Dragons and Mr. Sunshine will find resonance in its royal court power struggles and historical ambition, while those who enjoy action-driven period sagas like Kingdom may also settle into its rhythm.
