## Synopsis

Tales from the Loop (2020) is an American science fiction drama miniseries created by Nathaniel Halpern for Prime Video. Set in a quiet rural town whose residents live above a colossal machine called The Loop, built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe, the series gathers self-contained episodes that follow different townspeople across generations. Each story turns on how an unexplained device ripples into everyday life, from a young boy's encounter with a strange presence to adults whose routines bend around the impossible. Principal characters are drawn through the wider ensemble rather than one protagonist, with performers such as Elektra Jansson-Kilbey as Alma and Adam Hurtig as Young Russ anchoring episodes that move between memory, longing and quiet wonder. The eight-episode run is a single limited series in which each hour unfolds at a contemplative pace, building a patient, interconnected picture of the community. Its tone is wistful and melancholic, with dreamy, retro-futuristic imagery of tall grass, sunlit fields and humming machinery. Fans of Twin Peaks, Dark and Black Mirror will find resonance in its blend of small town unease, cosmic curiosity and emotional restraint.
