## Synopsis

Into the Night (2020-2021) is a Belgian science fiction thriller series created by Jason George for Netflix. Passengers on an overnight flight from Brussels wake to a world in which the sun has turned lethal, and the cabin becomes a fragile refuge where strangers must decide how far they will go to survive. Sylvie (Pauline Étienne) and Mathieu (Laurent Capelluto) lead the struggle to keep people alive, while Rik (Jan Bijvoet), Ayaz (Mehmet Kurtuluş) and Ines (Alba Gaïa Bellugi) represent the competing instincts that pull the group apart. Each episode is built from tense confrontations, scarce supplies, and the constant pressure of waiting for nightfall, while the wider world seen in glimpses hints at a catastrophe far beyond the aircraft. The series runs across two seasons and twelve episodes, following one continuing story rather than standalone cases. Its tone is bleak and paranoid, with breathless sequences of danger and moral compromise, and the emotional weight rests on fear, loyalty and desperation. Fans of The Stand, Snowpiercer and The Leftovers will find resonance in its apocalyptic dread and its close study of a community under siege. Set in a present-day Europe transformed overnight, it is a claustrophobic European genre drama built around a single unbroken nightmare.
