## Synopsis

The Birch (2019-2021) is a United States short-form horror anthology series created for Facebook Watch, running two seasons and twenty-four episodes of roughly fifteen minutes each. Each story follows a different character whose life is shaped by the Birch, a bloodthirsty monster lurking deep in the woods who offers protection to anyone willing to summon her. Principal cast includes Xaria Dotson as Evie Grayson, Casey Likes as Brian Moses, Brad Beyer as Buddy, and Midori Francis as Lanie Bouchard, with the shared mythology threading through otherwise standalone tales. The engine of the show is the escalating cost of that bargain: characters who call on the creature for safety discover that the protection demands a toll they cannot easily refuse. Episodes are built around rural isolation, family unease, and the pull of a force that feels both comforting and monstrous. The tone is eerie and unsettling, with a dread-filled, claustrophobic mood carried by dark woods and quiet menace. Each brisk installment delivers a compact scare and a sharp turn in perspective. Fans of Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Tales from the Crypt and Creepshow will find resonance in its anthology structure and folklore-tinged horror.
