## Synopsis

Magical Andes (2019-2021) is a German-produced documentary series created by Luis Ara and Alexandra Hardorf and broadcast on ARTE. Across two seasons and ten episodes of roughly twenty-five minutes each, it follows five characters who share a deep personal connection to the mountains of South America, moving from Argentina up to Colombia along the spine of the Andes. Rather than building a plot, the series lets its subjects guide the viewer through their everyday relationships with high peaks, valleys, and the landscapes that shape their lives. The emphasis falls on sweeping aerial and ground-level photography, the textures of remote terrain, and the quiet dignity of people who live in close contact with nature. Its tone is gentle, wondrous, and contemplative, with a warm family-friendly register that suits viewers drawn to scenic travelogues and nature documentaries. Fans of Planet Earth II, Human Planet, and Patagonia will find a similar sense of awe and regional immersion here. The series is short and accessible, rewarding both casual viewing and longer, unhurried attention to its landscapes.
