## Synopsis

The Flame (2020) is a French national-television dating show parody series created by Jonathan Cohen, Jérémie Galan and Florent Bernard for Canal+. Jonathan Cohen plays Marc, an airline pilot who spends nine weeks in a beautiful villa while thirteen contenders compete to seduce him and be the one to light the flame. Ana Girardot plays Anne, Adèle Exarchopoulos plays Soraya, and Géraldine Nakache plays Marina, with Pierre Niney appearing as Dr Bruno Juiphe and Ramzy Bedia as Tony Tonic. The engine of the series is the escalating rivalry and absurd romantic maneuvering among the contestants, each episode unfolding like a staged reality format with mock confessionals, dates, and eliminations played for comic effect. It is a single season of nine half-hour episodes, a compact, self-contained run. The mood is breezy, sardonic and deliberately overheated, with the satire landing on the conventions of televised romance. Fans of The Bachelor, Dating Around and French sketch-based satire will find resonance here. Its approach rewards viewers who enjoy spoofs that take reality television's theatrics seriously enough to mock them.
