## Synopsis

Adventure Time: Distant Lands (2020-2021) is an American animated fantasy adventure miniseries created by Pendleton Ward and Miki Brewster for HBO Max, a spin-off grounded in the Cartoon Network world of the original Adventure Time. Across four feature-length specials of roughly forty-five minutes each, the story travels into unexplored corners of the Land of Ooo, where Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada) and Jake (John DiMaggio) appear alongside a new cast of characters. Tom Kenny voices the Ice King and several other figures, Hynden Walch returns as Princess Bubblegum, and Niki Yang voices BMO. Each special is a self-contained journey, with a fresh protagonist facing odd dangers, strange creatures and whimsical puzzles on the road to a small, personal resolution. The engine of each episode is curiosity and kindness rather than grand conquest, and the look is bright, hand-drawn and playfully surreal. The tone blends goofy humor with gentle melancholy and warmth, the kind of wistful, comforting fantasy that rewards long-time fans while welcoming newcomers. Fans of Adventure Time, Over the Garden Wall and Steven Universe will find the same blend of whimsy, found family and emotional sincerity. Set in an invented fantasy realm with no fixed calendar, it stands as a compact, complete spin-off that suits family viewing.
