## Synopsis

Trese (2021) is a Filipino-inspired adult animated supernatural crime series created for Netflix, a six-episode run that was later canceled. Shay Mitchell voices Alexandra Trese, a detective who keeps the peace in Manila, where dark creatures and spirits move through the criminal underworld. Carlos Alazraqui voices her twin brother Anton Trese, and Jon Jon Briones voices Hank, rounding out a cast drawn from the komiks comic tradition. The engine of the series is the cat-and-mouse work of policing a city where the mortal and supernatural worlds overlap: each episode builds around a new threat, from crooked dealers to unnatural predators, while the heroine navigates allies and rivals who fear her as much as the things she hunts. Stylized, moody and visceral, the show balances brooding atmosphere with sharp humor and sudden bursts of violence. Its short episodes and season-long undercurrent of a brewing storm give it a tense, serialized shape. Fans of Castlevania, Constantine and Blood of Zeus will find resonance in its blend of folklore, gritty crime and adult animation. Its anime-inspired style and Filipino mythology set it apart from the usual American supernatural detective fare.
