## Synopsis

Betty (2020-2021) is an American HBO comedy drama series created by Crystal Moselle and Lesley Arfin, a short-lived coming of age show that follows a diverse group of young women skating through New York City. Janay (Dede Lovelace), Honeybear (Kabrina Adams), Kirt (Nina Moran), Indigo (Ajani Russell) and Camille (Rachelle Vinberg) move through a male-dominated skateboarding scene, and the engine of each episode is the ordinary push and pull of their lives: friendships tested by rivalry, romance, money worries and the search for a place in a sport that often treats them as outsiders. Episodes are built around skate sessions, parties, crew disputes and the small victories of landing a trick in front of doubters. The series runs for two seasons of six episodes each, a serialized but loosely connected character drama rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is loose, sincere and frank, with an intimate, street-level atmosphere that foregrounds female friendship, queer identity and self-assertion. Viewers who enjoyed Skate Kitchen, Girls and Euphoria will find a similar honesty about young adulthood in a contemporary urban setting.
